Licensed cosmetologists are knowledgable in sanitation and safety.
Rep. Holly Richardson, a Republican, crafted a bill that would permit someone
to charge money without a state-issued cosmetology license for doing natural
hair braiding — i.e., without chemicals or heating devices. But cosmetologists packed one of Capitol Hill’s biggest committee rooms to inveigh against it. They claimed that untrained braiders would spread disease and possibly hurt people. We didn’t know braiding hair was such dangerous work. Click here to read the rest of the story.
