Face Mask Recipes for Various Skin Types

Women with all skin types want to look their best. It is not always possible to get to the salon for the perfect facial. Time may be limited and a woman may have too many other things to take care of. In such instances, a home facial may be the best solution. There are literally hundreds of recipes for home facials. But every recipe will not be suitable for all skin types.

Face Mask Recipes for Dry Skin

Dry skin requires moisture. However, not all moisturizers will provide nutrients to the skin. Some are better than others at providing gentle cleansing, while giving the skin the moisture it needs.

An avocado honey mask is simple to make and takes just minutes to use. You will need two ingredients:

  • avocado
  • honey

An oat bran mask recipe provides moisture and helps soothe dry skin. The ingredients for this recipe include:

  • oat bran
  • yogurt
  • honey
  • olive oil
  • bee pollen, if available

Mix a tablespoon of oat bran (or rolled oats if you don’t mind the large pieces) with 1 tablespoon of yogurt, honey, and olive oil. If you can obtain one eighth teaspoon of bee pollen, be sure to add it to the mixture. If not, the recipe will work fine without it. When all the ingredients are mixed, apply to the skin on the face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

A papaya and strawberry mask offer moisture and natural antioxidants for the skin. It also provides a pleasant aroma, which makes a home facial enjoyable. Combine the following ingredients:

  • strawberries
  • cooked peach
  • half a mashed, ripe papaya
  • teaspoon of honey
  • tablespoon of oatmeal (uncooked)

First, mix all the fruits and honey together in a bowl. Add the oats until the mixture becomes a thick paste. Apply to the face and leave on for up to fifteen minutes. Rinse the mask off with lukewarm water. Apply a moisturizer before the skin dries.

Other recipe combinations for normal skin include peach and honey, and papaya and honey. The fruits provide nutrients and antioxidants. The honey helps remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the skin.

Eggs and yogurt make another simple solution for a face mask. You will combine:

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt

Separate the eggs and save the whites, to blend with the yogurt. Apply and leave on for thirty minutes. Rinse with warm water.

For a more exotic mask, try a mixture with chocolate. You will need:

  • cocoa or chocolate powder
  • honey
  • mashed avocado
  • corn meal (optional)

Combine all the ingredients until creamy. Massage into the face and leave on for twenty minutes. Rinse with warm water. Corn meal is used to exfoliate, but is not necessary for daily cleansing.

Rose water is another exotic recipe for normal skin cleansing. Mix rose petals with rose water, plain yogurt, and honey. First, soak the rose petals in water for about ten minutes, then add the other ingredients. Leave on for ten minutes, then rinse.

Not only will the rosewater solution leave the skin feeling clean and rejuvenated. It will also provide a pleasant fragrance that can help you relax. This type of mask would make an excellent part of a woman’s nightly skin care regimen.

Kiwi juice, olive oil, and egg yolk provide plenty of nutrients, gentle cleaning, and moisturizing in one step. After the ingredients are combined, the mixture is left on the face for ten minutes, then rinsed. No additional moisturizer is needed with this recipe.

Face Mask Recipes for Blackheads

Face masks for black heads are typically designed to cleanse pores of excess oils and remove oils from the skin. With excess oils in the pores of the skin, you will want any combination that removes oils and dead skin cells. Some favorite combinations are nutmeg and milk, nutmeg and lemon juice, or salt and cream.

The nutmeg or salt serves as the ingredient that scrubs and removes the blackheads from the pores. The other ingredient is used to rid the skin on the face of dead cells.

Simple honey is one of the face masks for black heads that requires no mixing and little preparation. It is best to use the stickiest honey available. Simply apply some honey directly to the skin in a patting motion. As the fingers are removed, the honey will pull the black heads out. Honey is also an antioxidant and has antibacterial properties. It helps keep bacteria from accumulating in the pores.

  • let dry
  • add another layer of egg white
  • add a third layer, focusing more of the egg white on areas with black heads. Let dry for fifteen minutes. Wipe of with a cloth and warm water. The sticky egg will remove the black heads, while giving the skin some nourishment.

Of all the face masks for black heads, the simple baking soda solution is one of the fastest and easiest. Follow these steps:

  • mix baking soda with water to make a paste
  • apply to skin
  • gently rub in a circular motion
  • rinse with warm water

It is important to use a gentle motion when rubbing the soda paste. If a cloth is used to help rinse the paste off, avoid rubbing again and simply pat the paste from the skin.

Some women may want to consider overnight face masks for black heads. A solution of turmeric, coriander, and water makes an excellent paste to leave on.

  • combine coriander leaves with turmeric
  • add water to form a paste
  • apply evenly to the face, concentrating on the nose, chin, forehead, and creases where oil tends to accumulate

Wash the mask off the next morning with cold water.

Another simple recipe is mashed papaya and flour. These are the steps:

  • mash ripened papaya
  • make a paste
  • add some flour to thicken the paste
  • apply to the face
  • leave on for 10 to 15 minutes
  • rinse with cool water

Face Mask Recipes for Acne

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

When it comes to face masks for acne, orange peel paste is simple and takes a few minutes to prepare. Here’s what you need to do:

  • grind orange peels into a powder
  • add enough water to make the orange peel powder spreadable
  • apply the paste
  • leave on 20 minutes or until the paste becomes firm

Rinse off the paste with warm water and pat dry.

The banana peel mask is one of the easiest masks to use and requires no preparation. You will need one ripe banana peel. It must be yellow and even slightly brown. Green peels are not effective.

Simply rub the inside of the peel in a circular motion, over your entire face. The residue will dry quickly. Let it stand for a half hour before rinsing off with water.

Face masks for combination skin

There are other face masks for skin that is both oily and dry. Combining the right ingredients is easier than you think. You will simply want to avoid those that may interact with each other.

Murray Beauty college 5Baking soda paste can be made more fragrant and moisturizing by adding rose oil. This type of recipe allows you to remove oils and dead skin cells, while putting some moisture balance back into the skin. Baking soda and tea tree oil is another excellent combination.

Another good recipe for combination skin is honey and milk or yogurt. The yogurt removes dead skin cells and moisturizes. For additional softness, you may want to add a drop or two of grape seed or olive oil.

All of the various recipes for facial masks require more or less preparation time and effort. The good thing is that you can choose which recipes will work with your schedule and daily routine.

You don’t necessarily need to stick with one recipe. If your skin changes over time or you simply want more cleansing one day, you can choose a recipe for oily skin. The advantages of homemade recipes are numerous.

Those who are on a budget, but want to have nice skin, can use simple ingredients found in the cabinet or in the local grocery store. Most of the remedies are made from natural ingredients. You will not need to worry about harmful chemicals or perfumes that may irritate the skin.
